Band

Foggy Dew band gathered in 1999 in Rostov-on-Don by Alexander Dzalashov - well known Russian folk singer. The main band’s trend is the performance of Irish Folk Music (drinking songs, rebel songs, ballads, dancing tunes). Amongst all of Russian musicians working on different styles of Celtic music, the main particular feature of Foggy Dew band is using of pure traditional Irish musical instruments and traditional arrangements of Irish songs and tunes. This fact marks Foggy Dew like the unique Russian band performing traditional Irish music.

Foggy Dew are:

Alexander Dzalashov – vocal, guitar, bodhran

Grigoriy Polovinka – button accordion, vocal

Artem Misnik – tenor banjo

Irina Nikolova – fiddle

Our friend a very good singer Ivan Borsh perform with the band from time to time.

Starting with year 2000, Foggy Dew is touring a lot all over the post soviet territories. The band makes great successful concerts in Rostov-on-Don, Moscow and other cities of Russia and neighboring foreign countries. The main idea of band’s creative work is to introduce songs and music of cozy Irish pubs to the greater audience, to collect and popularize Irish traditional music as well as folk music generally.  Foggy Dew’s songlist is steadily going to 200 Irish songs & tunes.

Foggy Dew is in old and friendly relations with the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland in Russia and is often performing for its different cultural events and receptions. The band takes part in numerous festivals and concerts in cooperation with many musicians, bands, and dancing teams focused on Celtic or just folk music.

In 2001 two songs performed by Foggy Dew  were included into the All-Russia collection of Celtic Music - CD “Born In Ireland” issued as appendix by “Salon AV” and “AvtoZvuk” magazines. In 2005 the Band  issued its first album "Foggy Dew 1" with popular Irish folk songs. Presently a new disc of Foggy Dew is about to come out .
